Multiplying and Dividing by 10’s
Level 2

This two page worksheet covers multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100, and 1000. Students
should already understand basic decimals, and multiplication and division.

Key concept: When multiplying or dividing by 10’s the decimal is moving one place value per 10.

Multiplying and Dividing by 10’s
Level 3

This two page worksheet continues multiplying and dividing decimals by 10’s, and covers up to
10 million. Students should already understand moving the decimal when using multiplication and division.

Student misunderstanding: Commas are not the same as decimals. Commas separate the whole number groups (ones,
thousands, millions, etc.). Decimals separate whole numbers from the fraction (pieces) of a whole number.

Multiplying Decimals

These one page art worksheets review multiplying decimals. The drawing is the same but the questions are different for each level.

Student misunderstanding: Count how many digits are to the right of the decimal in all the numbers before multiplying. After the final
answer is calculated put the decimal back so the same number of digits are to the right.

Long Division with Decimals
Level 1

This two page worksheet introduces long division with decimals. It covers dividing when a decimal
is already present, and adding a decimal and zero to complete a problem.

Key concept: A decimal separates the whole number from the parts of a whole (fraction). And you
are not changing a number by adding a decimal and a zero. Example: 1 is the same as 1.0 or 1.00 or
1.000000
.

Long Division with Decimals
Level 2

This two page worksheet continues long division with decimals. It covers adding more than one zero
and repeaters.

Key concept: That it’s okay to add more and more zeros, and that some numbers can continue forever.
Students should start recognizing the patterns of certain repeaters.

Long Division with Decimals
Level 3

This two page worksheet covers decimals in the divisor (number on the outside). It includes prior
division and decimal knowledge (adding zero’s after a decimal, repeaters, etc.).

Key concept: Can not divide with a decimal in the divisor, and whatever you do to the divisor you
need to do to the dividend (inside number).

Division with Decimals – Level 3

Students answer all the division problems but choose which group of problems to shade to generate one of the two pictures hidden in the worksheet.

Student misunderstanding: When moving the decimal, whatever you do to the divisor you do to the dividend or whatever you do to the outside you do to the inside.

Basic Operations with Decimals
Level 2

This art worksheet reviews the basic operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) with decimals.

Student misunderstanding: Multiplying: the total number of digits to the right of the decimal should be the
same in the final answer. Dividing: cannot have a decimal in the divisor (outside number). Whatever you do to the outside you have to do to
the inside.

Decimals and Percents – All Levels

This one page worksheet has students write the percent as a decimal and write the decimal as
a percent.

Key concept: A percent is out of 100, which means you need to always move the decimal two places. Percent to
decimal you move two spaces to the left, and decimal to percent you move two spaces to the right.

Changing Fractions to Decimals
Level 1

This two page worksheet introduces changing fractions to decimals using long division and
prior decimal knowledge (adding zero’s after a decimal, repeaters, etc.).

Student misunderstanding: Lots of students get confused with which number goes inside (dividend) and
which one goes outside (divisor). They usually think the bigger number goes inside.

Changing Decimals to Fractions
Level 1

This two page worksheet introduces changing decimals to fractions. It covers up to thousandths and
includes simplifying fractions.

Helpful hint: When changing a decimal to a fraction, every digit to the right of the decimal
means a zero in the denominator. Example: 0.19 has two digits to the right of the decimal, so the fraction
would be 19/100 (the denominator has two zeros)
.

percent of a number.
